Costway sells a huge range of home goods under its own name: patio sets, sofas, cabinets, kitchen appliances, baby gear, kids' ride-ons and fitness equipment, among much else. Many of those items are large, heavy and boxed for self-assembly, which makes the fine print on shipping, returns and warranty matter more than it does for a T-shirt. This guide walks through Costway's published policies on its US site as of November 2, 2026, so you know what free shipping covers, what you can and cannot send back, what a return will cost you, and how the Costway Care warranty works.

Shipping: what "free" includes

Costway's shipping guide states free standard shipping on all items. Optional add-ons at checkout, such as shipping protection, return protection or damage coverage, are charged separately and are provided by a third-party partner. Costway's return policy names that partner as Seel and says these protection services become non-refundable 24 hours after the order is fulfilled; claims go through resolve.seel.com/costway.

Orders go out with major carriers such as UPS, USPS and FedEx, and Costway says it may also use regional delivery partners. Its shipping guide adds that items under 150 lbs are dispatched by UPS and heavier items are delivered by truck, which is worth knowing if you are ordering a large sectional or a mini split air conditioner and need to plan for a freight delivery.

Timing works like this, according to the shipping guide:

  • In-stock orders are estimated to ship on the next business day, and card payments are billed within 24 hours.
  • Delivery typically takes 3 to 5 days depending on destination and carrier.
  • If an order has not shipped more than 8 business days after its label was created, you can choose to cancel or take a partial refund.
  • Multi-item orders may arrive in separate shipments.

You get an order acknowledgement email and a shipment confirmation email with tracking numbers, and you can check status in your Costway account at any time. Costway also collects sales tax for most states, so check the tax line at checkout.

Check the box the day it arrives

This is the single most important habit for Costway orders. The shipping guide asks you to report transit damage through "My Orders" within 3 business days of receiving your package, with photos of any visible damage such as scrapes and dents, or a note if the item does not work.

The return policy says something slightly broader: inspect the products when they arrive and contact customer service within 48 hours if anything is missing, faulty, damaged or wrong. Photos or a short video of the product, packaging and external labels speed things up. Costway recommends reporting all product issues within 30 days of receiving the item and warns that problems raised later may be harder to resolve.

Two more rules from the policy: if you refuse a delivery without Costway's agreement, you may be charged shipping and handling costs, and Costway will not pay for repairs done by contractors it did not authorize.

Returns: the 30-day window and its limits

You can request a return or exchange within 30 days of delivery. To qualify, Costway says the item must be:

  • brand new, unused and not installed or assembled;
  • in its original packaging with the original tags;
  • complete with every accessory from the original shipment.

The "not assembled" condition is the one that catches furniture buyers out. If you are unsure whether a cabinet or bed frame will fit, measure your space and check the product dimensions before you build it, because an assembled item falls outside the change-of-mind return policy.

The policy also lists items that cannot be returned or exchanged: sale items, Costway gift boxes, customized items, offline purchases (items or parts not listed on the website), products marked "Non-returnable" on the product page, bundle discounts unless the whole set comes back, assembled or disassembled products, and anything past 30 days from delivery. All of these exclusions are lifted if the item arrived damaged or defective.

What a return can cost you

Costway's return costs depend on why you are sending the item back:

  • Defective or not as described: Costway covers return shipping and provides a prepaid label, based on the photos or video you send.
  • Change of mind, wrong size or color ordered, or an order that shipped before you cancelled: you pay return shipping, unless applicable law says otherwise.
  • No original packaging: a $45 repackaging fee per item, unless applicable law requires otherwise.
  • Self-arranged returns: Costway does not pay shipping for returns you send yourself, and you need to email the tracking number to service@costway.com.

Costway's return policy also describes a paid Costway Plus+ membership whose members get free returns within 30 days of receiving an item, limited to three free returns per calendar month, on orders placed while the membership is active. Its Plus+ rules describe a 12-month paid membership with a 15%-off member discount that does not apply to clearance, flash sale, pre-sale or other special-offer items. Membership pages change, so check the current terms in your account before paying for it with returns in mind.

How to start a return

  1. Log in to your Costway account and open My Orders.
  2. Click View Order, select the item, click Return, choose a reason and submit.
  3. Once approved, download the return label.
  4. Pack the item with all components in the original packaging and ship it.

No account? Costway says customer service can send you a return label. Returns go to its warehouse at 11250 Poplar Avenue, Fontana, California 92337.

Refunds and cancellations

After the warehouse inspects a returned item and finds it brand new, Costway says it issues a refund within 7 business days, minus return shipping fees (except for quality issues). Refunds go to the original payment method and can take up to 10 business days to appear, depending on your card provider. If the original payment method is no longer available, Costway can issue a store voucher instead.

To cancel, email service@costway.com within 24 hours of payment with your order number and recipient name; if it has not shipped, Costway can stop it and refund you in full. After shipment, Costway has to try a carrier recall, which carries a recall fee and is not always successful. If the recall works, the refund is processed within 2 to 3 business days of the item reaching the warehouse.

The Costway Care warranty

Costway Care covers products against defects in material or workmanship for 365 days from the date of purchase, as long as the product is used in a home environment. It does not cover abuse, accidental damage, negligence, misuse, modification, commercial use, or repairs made or attempted by anyone other than Costway. The warranty is not transferable and only applies to orders placed on costway.com.

That last point matters because Costway products are also sold through other retailers. If you bought a Costway item elsewhere, the seller's own return and warranty terms apply.

Mini split air conditioners are the main exception: Costway lists longer, series-specific coverage on its guarantee page, ranging from 3 to 8 years on the compressor and 3 to 5 years on parts, depending on the model.

Costway's guarantee page also promises replies to customer inquiries within 48 hours.

Rewards and the free membership

Costway's rewards page describes a free membership program in which you earn reward points on purchases and simple tasks and redeem them for savings. The same page lists a Milestone Club with monthly badges, a Loyalty Cashback program that it says returns up to 8% on orders depending on how much you shop, a monthly Free Trial draw for new arrivals, and app-only offers. Read each program's details page before counting on a specific return, since the terms are set by Costway and can change.

Safety first with kids' products

Costway sells high chairs, cribs, strollers and ride-on toys, so check for recalls before you buy or keep using a product. Earlier this season Costway recalled convertible high chairs over entrapment and fall hazards; our guide to the Costway high chair recall explains which models are affected and how to get the free replacement. You can also search CPSC.gov by brand and product type before ordering.

A pre-order checklist

  1. Measure doorways, stairs and the final spot, and compare them with the product dimensions.
  2. Check whether the item is a sale or "Non-returnable" item, since those cannot be returned for change of mind.
  3. Keep every box and piece of packing material for at least 30 days to avoid the $45 repackaging fee.
  4. Open and inspect the delivery right away, and report damage within 48 hours with photos.
  5. Do not assemble anything you might return.
  6. Order on costway.com if you want Costway Care warranty coverage.
  7. Decline or accept third-party shipping protection knowing it is separate from Costway's own policies.

The bottom line

Costway's headline terms are simple: free standard shipping, a 30-day return window and a one-year Costway Care warranty. The details are where the cost lies. Change-of-mind returns usually mean paying return shipping, missing packaging adds $45 per item, assembled or sale items generally cannot go back, and damage needs to be reported within days of delivery. Plan around those rules and Costway's policies are straightforward to use.
