DEWALT ATOMIC 1/2 in. Impact Wrench With 6.0Ah and 4.0Ah Batteries Is $199 at The Home Depot

The Home Depot has the DEWALT ATOMIC 20V MAX brushless 1/2 in. cordless impact wrench, bundled with a 20V MAX XR 6.0Ah and 4.0Ah battery starter kit, for $199.00. The listing, marked as a Home Depot exclusive, shows a previous price of $438.00, a saving of $239.00 (55%). That puts a compact brushless wrench and two high-capacity batteries in one box, a sensible entry point into DEWALT's 20V system if you rotate tires or work on cars at home.

What you get and how the price compares

The wrench is DEWALT's DCF921B: up to 300 ft-lbs of fastening torque and 450 ft-lbs of breakaway torque, four speed settings, Precision Wrench control to limit overtightening and fastener run-off, a Timber Screw mode, an LED work light and a hog ring anvil for quick socket changes. The spec sheet lists 3,200 impacts per minute and a tool weight of 2.375 lb. The DCB2460C starter kit adds one 6.0Ah and one 4.0Ah battery, up to 10 Amp hours of capacity combined, and a charger that DEWALT says works with its 12V and 20V MAX batteries.

On the same page, The Home Depot lists the same ATOMIC wrench bundled with smaller 5Ah and 2Ah batteries at $438.00. At $199 this kit gives you more battery capacity for less than half that price. One detail to note: the listing headline mentions a bag, but DEWALT's own answer in the product Q&A says the DCB2460C kit does not include one, so do not count on it.

Who should buy

• Home mechanics who want lug nuts off without a breaker bar: the wrench is rated at 450 ft-lbs of breakaway torque in a 2.375 lb body.
• DEWALT 20V owners short on batteries: the 6.0Ah and 4.0Ah packs fit the rest of the 20V MAX range.
• Wait if: you need a 3/8 in. drive for tight engine-bay work, or a higher-torque wrench for trucks and heavy equipment.
