Parents using a Papablic convertible bedside sleeper should move their baby to another safe sleep space immediately. The US Consumer Product Safety Commission says model PAPA03001AI does not meet the mandatory federal standard for play yards: the mattress can shift and trap a baby, and the locking mechanism can fail and collapse the frame. Papablic is offering a full refund.

Recall facts

  • Product: Papablic convertible bedside sleeper with play yard extension (works as a bassinet and a play yard), model PAPA03001AI
  • Hazards: the mattress can become displaced so a baby gets trapped between the pad and the bottom, a suffocation risk; the latch and locking mechanism can fail and collapse the product, an entrapment and fall risk
  • Standard: violates the mandatory federal safety standard for play yards
  • Units: about 248
  • Incidents: none reported
  • Sold: online on Amazon.com and papablic.com from April 2025 through July 2026 for about $190
  • Remedy: full refund after proof of destruction
  • Recall number: 27-027, dated October 15, 2026; made in China, distributed by Papablic, Inc., Chicago

How to identify it

The sleeper has a gray exterior, an interior printed with stars and moons, and "Papablic" stitched in white on the front gray fabric panel. Lift the mattress pad: the model number PAPA03001AI is on a label sewn to the inside fabric of the bassinet. If you bought a Papablic sleeper on Amazon, your order history will also show the listing.

What to do

  1. Stop using it immediately, for sleep and for play.
  2. Disassemble the sleeper and cut the mattress and fabric parts in half so it cannot be reused or resold.
  3. Email photos of the destroyed parts to support@papablic.com. The refund is issued after Papablic receives the proof.
  4. Dispose of the product once the refund is confirmed.
