What this guide covers
Buying Bose headphones, earbuds or speakers directly from Bose.com comes with a set of store policies that differ from what you get at a big-box retailer. Some of them are seasonal, like the extended holiday returns and the holiday price match promise. Others apply all year, like free shipping thresholds, the one-year limited warranty, Certified Refurbished products and trade-in credit. This guide walks through each policy as Bose describes it on its U.S. site, so you know what to expect before you check out.

All details below were checked on Bose.com on November 5, 2026. Bose can change its policies at any time, so confirm the terms on the checkout page before you buy.
Shipping: free two-day delivery on orders of $49 or more
Bose offers free two-day shipping and free returns on in-stock orders of $49 or more in the U.S. Orders typically need one to two business days of processing before they ship, so "two-day" refers to transit time rather than the total time from order to doorstep. If you are buying a gift close to a holiday, add those processing days to your estimate.
Orders under $49, such as a replacement carry case or a cable, may carry a shipping charge. Bose shows the shipping options and costs at checkout.
Returns: 30 days as standard, longer over the holidays
The standard return window
Bose's standard policy allows returns within 30 days, and Bose covers the return shipping. Once Bose receives and processes a return, refunds usually take three to five business days to appear, depending on your bank or card issuer.
Extended holiday returns
For the 2026 holiday season, Bose has extended its return window. Products bought directly from Bose between October 30 and December 25, 2026 can be returned until January 31, 2027. That matters for gifts: a pair of headphones bought in early November can still be returned at the end of January if the recipient does not want them.
The extended window applies only to purchases made directly from Bose. Products bought from other retailers follow that retailer's return policy.
What you cannot return
Bose lists several exceptions. These cannot be returned:
- Products bought through a trade-in purchase
- Personalized items
- Items marked final sale
- Gift cards
If you plan to use trade-in credit or buy a personalized product, be sure about your choice before ordering.
Holiday price match promise
Bose normally offers a 14-day price match promise. For the holiday season, it has extended this window. If you buy a new product from Bose.com between October 30 and December 25, 2026, and the same product later appears at a lower price on Bose.com or at one of three authorized dealers (Best Buy, Target or Walmart), you can request a price match refund through January 8, 2027.

Bose sets several conditions:
- The product must be the identical model.
- It must be in stock and ready to ship from the authorized dealer.
- The lower price must be that retailer's listed price. Prices from marketplace sellers do not qualify. Neither do discounts tied to discount codes, memberships or bundles.
- You submit an image or link of the lower price, and Bose reviews and verifies the request.
In practice, this means that buying a discounted product now does not lock you out of a deeper discount later in the season, as long as that discount shows up on Bose.com or at Best Buy, Target or Walmart under the listed-price rules. Keep your order number and take a screenshot when you see a lower price.
Warranty and BoseCare protection plans
The standard limited warranty
New Bose products bought from Bose come with a one-year limited warranty. Bose also notes that products bought directly from it are guaranteed authentic.
BoseCare options
At checkout, Bose offers two optional BoseCare plans for headphones such as the QuietComfort Headphones (2nd Gen):
- BoseCare Protection Plan ($49.95): a two-year extended warranty that begins after the one-year Bose limited warranty ends. It covers mechanical breakdowns, giving you three years of coverage in total.
- BoseCare Accident Protection ($59.95): a three-year plan that adds coverage for accidental damage from handling, such as drops and spills.
These plan prices were listed on the QuietComfort Headphones (2nd Gen) product page. Prices may differ for other product categories. Whether a plan is worth it depends on how you use your headphones. A commuter who throws them in a bag every day faces a different risk than someone who only uses them at a desk.
Paying over time
Bose.com offers pay-later options through Klarna and Afterpay, which split a purchase into four installments. Approval and terms are set by those providers. As with any pay-later plan, check whether late payments carry fees before you sign up.
My Bose account perks
Creating a free My Bose account unlocks a few extras, according to Bose:
- A welcome offer of 10% off for new members, capped at $100 in savings.
- A birthday gift for members.
- Member giveaways and early access to some sales and products.
The welcome offer is the most useful of these if you are about to make your first purchase. Check the current terms on the My Bose page, since they can exclude some items or be limited to one use.
Trade-in credit for older Bose products
Bose runs a trade-in program that gives credit toward a new product when you send in an eligible older device. The maximum credit Bose lists varies by category:
| Category | Maximum trade-in credit |
|---|---|
| Headphones | Up to $150 |
| Earbuds | Up to $100 |
| Soundbars | Up to $300 |
| Speakers | Up to $200 |
Eligible headphones include older models such as the QuietComfort 35, QuietComfort 35 II, QuietComfort 45 and Noise Cancelling Headphones 700. The actual credit depends on the model and its condition. Remember that purchases made with trade-in credit cannot be returned.
Certified Refurbished: a cheaper way into Bose
Bose sells Certified Refurbished products that have been inspected, cleaned inside and out, and tested. They carry a one-year warranty, the same length as the warranty on new products. On November 5, 2026, the refurbished QuietComfort Headphones were listed at $149.
Refurbished stock comes and goes, and color choice is often limited. The refurbished price is not always lower than a new product's sale price. During the current sale, the new first-generation QuietComfort Headphones are $169, only $20 more than the refurbished price. Compare both before you decide.
When to buy: how sales work at Bose
Bose runs sales throughout the year, with some of the deepest discounts around Black Friday and the holidays. As of November 5, 2026, Bose.com lists the QuietComfort Headphones (2nd Gen) from $199 (select colors) and the first-generation QuietComfort Headphones at $169. Both offers say they apply to purchases made by November 8, 2026. We cover the details in our news on the current QuietComfort headphones sale.
Because the holiday price match runs through January 8, 2027, buying during an early sale carries less risk than usual. If Bose or one of its authorized dealers lists the same model for less later in the season, you can request the difference, provided the listing meets Bose's rules.
Which QuietComfort model to choose
If you are shopping for noise-cancelling headphones, Bose's current over-ear lineup has three main options: the first-generation QuietComfort Headphones, the QuietComfort Headphones (2nd Gen) and the QuietComfort Ultra Headphones (2nd Gen). They differ in battery life, listening modes, wired audio support and price.

We compare all three in Bose QuietComfort Headphones 2nd Gen vs 1st Gen vs QuietComfort Ultra (2nd Gen). For a closer look at the middle model, read our research-based review of the QuietComfort Headphones (2nd Gen).
