Van Rysel GRVL AF Gravel Bikes Sold at REI Recalled Over Loosening Front Wheel

Decathlon America has recalled about 1,150 Van Rysel GRVL AF gravel bikes sold through REI because the front lock nut can work loose while riding, letting the front wheel shift or come off. Owners should stop riding the bike and take it to an REI Co-op store for a free inspection and fork repair. The recall was posted by the CPSC on October 8, 2026.

• Products: Van Rysel GRVL AF gravel bikes in Sword Brown (model 8911304), Apex Beige (8911305), Sword Pink (8911308) and GRX Black (8929130), sizes XS through XL
• Hazard: the front lock nut can loosen during use, so the front wheel can loosen or dislodge, creating a crash risk
• Units: about 1,150
• Incidents: none reported
• Sold: at REI Co-op stores and on REI.com from March 2025 through August 2026, for $1,400 to $2,300
• Remedy: free inspection and repair of the front fork assembly
• Recall number: 27-017 (Fast Track), dated October 8, 2026; made in China, imported by Decathlon America LLC, San Francisco, and distributed by REI

How to check yours

Find the barcode sticker on the frame near the bottom bracket. The Van Rysel Product ID is printed at the top right of that label and starts with a 5. The recalled IDs are:

What to do

1. Stop riding the bike until it has been inspected.
2. Take it to the nearest REI Co-op for the free inspection and front fork repair.
