DICK'S Sporting Goods runs one loyalty program across most of its family of stores, and it is easy to join without understanding how it pays out. The ScoreCard terms and conditions, effective July 1, 2026, spell out exactly how points turn into rewards, what does not earn, and how returns claw points back. If you buy sports gear a few times a year, from running shoes to a discounted Nike Victory tennis skort, these details decide what you get back. This guide summarizes the official terms in plain English.

Where ScoreCard works

ScoreCard is a US loyalty program offered by DICK'S Sporting Goods, Inc. It applies at DICK'S Sporting Goods, DICK'S House of Sport, DICK'S Field House, Golf Galaxy, Going Going Gone! and Public Lands stores, on their websites and apps, and on telephone orders. One account follows you across all of them.

To join you must live in the US (including US territories), be at least 13 (with a parent's permission if under 18), have a valid email address and mobile phone number, and use the program for personal purchases, not resale. Enrollment is free in stores, online or in the DICK'S and Golf Galaxy apps.

How you earn points

The basic rate is at least 1 point for every $1 of "Qualified Purchases". Your actual rate depends on your status. You can also earn points by:

  • Paying with the DICK'S Credit Card or DICK'S Mastercard: at least 3 points per $1 on qualified purchases at DICK'S stores (1 base point plus 2 "Credit Bonus Points"), and 1 point per $3 spent elsewhere with the Mastercard.
  • Fitness tracking: connecting an eligible tracker to the DICK'S app and hitting a daily goal can earn up to 3 points a day.
  • Promotions that DICK'S advertises from time to time.

Multiplier offers work slightly differently for cardholders. The terms explain that a 3x offer applies to the base point, then the 2 credit bonus points are added, so a cardholder earns 5 points per $1 on a 3x offer and 4 points per $1 on a 2x offer. Special financing offers on the card earn only the base point.

What does not earn points

"Qualified Purchases" are merchandise, services and experiences at the participating stores, but the terms exclude a fair amount:

  • sales tax and shipping;
  • gift cards, extended warranties and gift wrap;
  • PING products, and purchases made through A.D. Starr or GameChanger;
  • fees to join elevated ScoreCard tiers;
  • purchases made before you enrolled, and reward redemptions;
  • certain in-store and online services and experiences.

You have to identify yourself as a member at checkout (or sign in online). If you forget, you can add the transaction within 90 days using the "Credit My Account" function. Points from purchases can take up to seven weeks to appear.

How points become rewards

This is the part most shoppers misunderstand. Points convert automatically:

  • You receive a $10 reward once you reach 300 points.
  • After that minimum, rewards are issued in $5 increments. The terms give the example of a member starting from zero who earns 550 points on a purchase: they receive a $15 reward and keep 100 points.
  • Rewards are capped at $100 per reward and $500 per calendar month. Extra points carry over to the next month until they convert or expire.

That works out to about $3.33 back for every 100 points, so roughly 3.3% back at the base rate, and around 10% for cardholders on qualified DICK'S purchases at 3 points per dollar, before any multipliers.

Expiration dates to watch

  • Points: any points not converted to a reward expire one year after the date they were earned.
  • Rewards: must be used before the expiration date shown on the reward, which is at least 60 days after it is issued.
  • Inactive accounts: DICK'S may close accounts that have not earned points through a qualified purchase or redeemed a reward for 12 consecutive months, and points and rewards on a closed account are forfeited.

Redeeming rewards

You can use rewards on merchandise, services and experiences at the participating stores, in store or by applying them online or in the app. Up to three rewards per transaction are allowed. Each reward is single-use: if your purchase is smaller than the reward, the unused amount is forfeited, so match reward size to basket size.

Rewards cannot be used on gift cards, licenses, gift wrap, extended warranties, store credit, sales tax, shipping, previous purchases, tier fees, or A.D. Starr and GameChanger purchases. They have no cash value.

Returns affect your points

Returning something you earned points on deducts those points, which can push your balance negative. If the points have already become a reward:

  • an unspent reward may be canceled;
  • if the reward has been spent, your refund is reduced by the value of the spent reward.

If you return an item bought partly with a reward, you get a refund for the item minus the share of the reward allocated to it, plus points equal to that share. The terms also say you must identify with your ScoreCard account when returning anything that earned points.

Gold status and ScoreCard+

Beyond base ScoreCard status, you can reach ScoreCard Gold in either of two ways: make at least one purchase in the stores with a DICK'S Credit Card or Mastercard during the calendar year, or make $500 of qualified purchases in a calendar year. Status updates can take up to 14 days and then last for the rest of that year and all of the next. Benefits depend on your tier and are listed on DICK'S ScoreCard benefits page.

There is also ScoreCard+, a paid annual membership that renews automatically. The fee is shown when you enroll, and DICK'S must give at least 30 days' notice before a renewal at a higher price. You can turn off auto-renewal in your account under Manage Membership at any time; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current year, and the fee is not refundable except if DICK'S ends the program. If you cancel within two business days of renewal and are charged, DICK'S says it will refund the charge automatically within seven business days. Canceling ScoreCard+ leaves you in the free program with your points and tier intact.

Getting more from ScoreCard

  1. Always sign in or give your number, and use "Credit My Account" within 90 days if you forget.
  2. Time big purchases to land on point multiplier offers.
  3. Use rewards on a basket larger than the reward, since leftover value is lost.
  4. Track expiration dates for both points and rewards.
  5. Think twice before buying to return, because returns pull points back.
  6. Only pay for ScoreCard+ if you have checked the benefits against how often you shop.
