ELEGOO Centauri Carbon 2 Combo Review: Specs, CANVAS Multicolor and the $369 Black Friday Price

The Centauri Carbon 2 Combo is ELEGOO's enclosed multicolor FDM printer. It pairs the Centauri Carbon 2 with the CANVAS four-spool feeder, and ELEGOO markets it as a printer that beginners can set up while still handling engineering filaments. It's also the headline deal of ELEGOO's 2026 Black Friday sale, at $369, down from $449 on the official US store.

This is a research-based review. We haven't run the printer ourselves. Instead, we've gone through ELEGOO's published specifications, product page, warranty terms and sale pricing to work out what the Combo offers, where its limits are, and who should consider a different model.

What you get for $369

The "Combo" is the Centauri Carbon 2 printer plus the CANVAS multicolor system. On ELEGOO's US Black Friday page:

On sale, CANVAS adds just $50 over the single-color Carbon 2. At regular prices the gap is $90. If you think you'll ever want multicolor prints, the Combo is the version to buy during the sale.

Key specifications

From ELEGOO's Centauri Carbon 2 Combo product page:

• Motion system: CoreXY driven by dual 4260 stepper motors, with metal linear guide rods and a die-cast aluminum frame and chassis.
• Speed: up to 500 mm/s, with acceleration up to 20,000 mm/s².
• Build volume: 256 x 256 x 256 mm.
• Hotend: 350°C hardened steel nozzle, with ELEGOO quoting a 32 mm³/s flow rate.
• Bed: heated to 110°C, with a dual-sided flexible plate that has a smooth PLA side and a textured PEI side.
• Enclosure: an enclosed chamber with a thermal cover, an auto-controlled smart exhaust grille and a glass door with shatter-proof film.
• Cooling: part-cooling fan, auxiliary part-cooling fan, hotend fan and case fan.
• Air filtration: HEPA plus coconut-shell activated carbon.
• Interface: 5-inch capacitive touchscreen, plus a camera for live monitoring and timelapses.
• Multicolor: CANVAS four-color printing with RFID filament detection, auto refill and tangle detection.
• Noise: ELEGOO quotes 45 dB, measured in its lab with ELEGOO PLA in Silent Mode and the auxiliary fan turned off.

Setup and calibration

Most of ELEGOO's pitch is about automation. The product page lists:

• Auto calibration and pre-print checks before each job.
• Four-point auto bed leveling, with "smart partial leveling" that only probes the print area. ELEGOO says this cuts leveling time by up to 75%.
• Auto Z offset, which sets nozzle height for first-layer adhesion.
• Active vibration compensation to reduce ringing and ghosting at speed.
• Pressure advance calibration, which matches extrusion flow to print-head speed.
• A semi-automatic belt tensioner.

ELEGOO also lists 31 sensors that monitor a print. Among them are clog detection, filament runout, cutter status, exhaust grille checks, fan self-checks, part-cooling-fan drop detection, bed overheat protection and power-loss recovery.

These are the features that make an enclosed CoreXY machine approachable for a first-time owner. The product page doesn't tell you how reliably they work over months of use, so read long-term owner reports before relying on them.

The CANVAS multicolor system

CANVAS holds four spools and switches between them during a print. ELEGOO describes it as using independent motor control and short feed paths for "instant color switching." The extras matter as much as the color changes:

• RFID filament detection: ELEGOO's RFID-tagged spools are recognized automatically, and the printer loads recommended settings for that material and color.
• Auto refill: load two or more identical spools and the printer moves to the next one when a spool runs out, so long prints keep going.
• Tangle detection: a tangle pauses the print, and an upgraded spool holder rewinds unused filament.

One practical limit: ELEGOO says the spool holder fits spools with an inner diameter of 53–58 mm. Larger cores need a printed adapter. This matters if you buy filament from other brands.

Multicolor printing on any four-spool system also creates waste from purging during color changes, and adds time. ELEGOO's page doesn't give purge-waste figures, so expect multicolor prints to take longer and use more filament than single-color ones.

Materials

ELEGOO lists PLA, ABS, TPU and PLA-CF, and shows sample prints in PETG-CF. It also says the hardened 350°C nozzle can handle PC, PET and fiber-reinforced filaments. The enclosure, smart grille and 110°C bed are what make ABS and other warp-prone materials practical, since open-frame printers often struggle with them. The HEPA and activated-carbon filter is meant to reduce particles, VOCs and odors when printing indoors. It isn't a substitute for ventilating the room when you print ABS.

Software and app

The Combo works with ELEGOO's ecosystem:

• ElegooSlicer for slicing.
• Nexprint, ELEGOO's model library, which sends models to the slicer in one click.
• The ELEGOO Matrix app for starting prints remotely, live monitoring and alerts.

If you already use another slicer, check that it supports the Centauri Carbon 2 profile and CANVAS before you buy. The product page focuses on ELEGOO's own tools.

Warranty and returns

Under ELEGOO's US warranty table, Centauri Series printers are covered for 12 months. Several parts are treated as consumables with no warranty: the PEI and build plates, nozzles, PTFE tubes, heaters, thermistors and hot ends. The extruder and print-head kit have 6 months of coverage. CANVAS's main components are covered for 12 months, but its PTFE tubes, wiper and support claws are not.

Returns from ELEGOO's own store must be made within 14 days of receipt. For a change-of-mind return you pay shipping both ways plus a 5% restocking fee if the box is unopened, or 15% if it's opened but unused. Our ELEGOO shopping guide covers the full rules.

Questions to check before you order

• Do you have room for an enclosed printer plus CANVAS beside it? Measure your desk or shelf. The feeder sits next to the main unit, so the setup is wider than the printer alone.
• Which filament brand will you use? RFID recognition works with ELEGOO's tagged spools. With other brands you'll enter settings yourself, and the spool core has to fit the 53–58 mm holder or you'll need an adapter.
• Will you print ABS or carbon-fiber blends indoors? The enclosure and filter help, but plan for ventilation too.
• Is the sale price still showing? ELEGOO's Black Friday pricing runs until December 1, and $1 Flash Deal items sell in limited rounds.

Who should buy it

A good fit if you:

• Want an enclosed printer that can handle ABS and carbon-fiber filaments without building your own enclosure.
• Want to try multicolor printing without paying for a high-end system. At $369, CANVAS costs only $50 more than the single-color Carbon 2.
• Value automated leveling, calibration and failure detection over hands-on tuning.

Consider something else if you:

• Only print single-color PLA. The $319 Centauri Carbon 2, or the cheaper Centauri 2 at $244 on sale, does that for less.
• Need a bigger build area. The Combo's 256 mm cube limits large cosplay pieces. ELEGOO's own Neptune 4 Max offers 420 x 420 x 480 mm for $359 during the sale.

• Want an easy return option. ELEGOO's 14-day window and restocking fees are stricter than many big-box retailers' policies.

Bottom line

On paper, the Centauri Carbon 2 Combo covers what most home users want from a modern printer: an enclosure, CoreXY speed, a hardened nozzle, automated calibration and four-color printing. At $369 during ELEGOO's Black Friday sale, it's $80 below its regular price, and CANVAS costs less than the regular gap suggests. The main caveats are the 14-day return policy with restocking fees, consumables excluded from warranty, and the 53–58 mm spool-core limit for CANVAS.
