Two very different multicolor 3D printers arrived in shoppers' feeds on the same day. Creality launched the four-nozzle K3 in the US at $849 on November 3, 2026. The same day, Anycubic cut its seven-color Kobra X Combo to $469 for Black Friday. Both promise multicolor prints with less waste than older systems, but they get there in different ways. This comparison uses each company's published specifications as of November 3 to show what the extra $380 buys.

The core difference: four nozzles vs one smarter nozzle

Creality K3: tool changing. The K3 keeps up to four filaments in independent channels, each with its own nozzle. A color change is a nozzle swap that takes about five seconds. Because each color stays in its own nozzle, there is far less to purge. Creality says its internal testing showed up to 80% shorter print times and up to 85% less waste compared with single-nozzle multicolor printing.

Anycubic Kobra X Combo: one nozzle, shorter change path. The Kobra X uses a single nozzle fed by the ACE 2 Pro multicolor unit, with what Anycubic calls ACE GEN 2 technology. Anycubic says it shortens the filament change length by 81.25%, which reduces both the time and the purge material for each swap. Anycubic markets this as "2X the speed, 2X the material savings."

Both sets of numbers are manufacturer claims measured against conventional single-nozzle systems, not against each other. In principle, a tool changer avoids most purge waste by design. An improved single-nozzle system reduces purge waste but cannot eliminate it, because the old color still has to be cleared from the nozzle.

Colors: more vs faster

The Kobra X Combo wins on raw color count. It offers seven colors out of the box and a path to 19. The K3 is limited to four, one per nozzle. Creality counters with CMYK layered mixing, using cyan, magenta, yellow and black to create a wide range of visible shades. Creality's own footnote says this is not the same as precise color matching.

The K3 wins on how cheaply each change happens. If your models switch color many times per layer, as with detailed figurines, text on signs or patterned objects, a tool changer saves the most time and material. If your models use many colors but change only a few times, for example a figure printed in bands, the Kobra X's extra colors may matter more than the K3's faster swaps.

Mixed nozzles and support materials

Only the K3 can run different nozzle sizes in the same print. One example is a 0.4 mm nozzle for walls and a 0.8 mm nozzle for infill, which Creality says is up to 30% more efficient. Creality notes that the K3 ships with 0.4 mm nozzles by default and that the multi-nozzle kit is sold separately.

Both printers can print soluble PVA or breakaway supports. On the K3, the support material sits in its own nozzle, so switching between model and support adds little waste. On the Kobra X, each switch still involves a purge, though a shorter one.

Materials

Creality K3. The base list is PLA, PETG, PET, PCTG, glass- and carbon-filled PLA and PETG, and TPU 95A. An optional top cover adds ABS, ASA, PC, PA, PP and their fiber-filled versions. An optional TPU Kit adds softer TPU (85A/90A), TPE, PVA and BVOH. A store footnote also says TPU printing needs the multi-material kit, so check before buying for flexible prints.

Anycubic Kobra X. The supported list is PLA, PETG, TPU, PVA, PLA-CF, PETG-CF and ASA, with a hardened steel nozzle as standard. Its open-frame design is less suited to warp-prone ABS and ASA in a cool room. Its ACE 2 Pro dries filament at up to 65°C during printing, which helps with moisture-sensitive PETG and TPU.

Both beds top out at 100°C.

Size, weight and setup

The K3 weighs 22 kg, making it a substantial machine. The Kobra X weighs about 9.5 kg, plus 3.7 kg for the ACE 2 Pro. Their footprints are similar. The Kobra X ships as a gantry frame and base to join during setup, according to Anycubic's packing list. Both use 260 mm build cubes, so neither prints larger parts than the other.

Availability and buying terms

On November 3, Creality's release said the K3 was available now, with the first pre-orders shipping from November 2. The K3 store page still labeled it a pre-order with estimated shipping in early December. The Kobra X Combo was listed as a regular Black Friday product, with Anycubic's US shipping at 1 business day of processing and 3–8 business days of transit.

Return terms also differ:

  • Anycubic offers a 14-day no-reason return from delivery. The buyer pays return shipping if the item is not defective.
  • Creality requires returns within 14 calendar days, in complete and unactivated condition, with the customer paying for non-quality returns.

Both offer 12-month warranties on the complete machine, with shorter terms on wear parts. See our Creality shopping guide and Anycubic shopping guide for details.

Which to buy

Choose the Creality K3 if:

  • Your prints change color often and you want to minimize purge waste and time
  • You want mixed nozzle sizes or low-waste soluble supports
  • You value open firmware and a large sensor suite, and can budget for optional kits
  • You can wait if the ship date is in December

Choose the Anycubic Kobra X Combo if:

  • You want the most colors for the money, with 7 out of the box and up to 19
  • You want built-in filament drying
  • Price matters most: at $469 it costs about $380 less than the K3
  • You want a lighter machine shipping now during the Black Friday sale

Bottom line

The K3 and the Kobra X Combo represent two answers to multicolor printing. The K3 is the more advanced design: four nozzles avoid most purge waste and open up mixed nozzle sizes. You pay for that in price, weight and add-ons. The Kobra X Combo offers more colors and filament drying at a little over half the K3's price, but it still purges on every color change. Choose by how your models use color, not by headline color counts.
