Govee now sells four permanent outdoor light systems in the U.S.: Permanent Outdoor Lights 2, Permanent Outdoor Lights Pro, Permanent Outdoor Lights 2 Pro and Permanent Outdoor Lights Prism. The names are confusing. The "2 Pro" is not simply an upgraded "Pro," and the cheapest model has a "2" in its name too. Each targets a different kind of home and budget. This comparison lines up Govee's published specs and the U.S. prices listed on us.govee.com on November 4, 2026, so you can pick the right kit before you climb a ladder. It is research-based: we did not install these systems ourselves.

The short answer

Govee's own collection page sums up the lineup this way:

  • Best budget choice: Permanent Outdoor Lights 2
  • Best overall value: Permanent Outdoor Lights Pro
  • Best architectural design: Permanent Outdoor Lights 2 Pro
  • Best technology: Permanent Outdoor Lights Prism

In practice, the deciding questions are:

  • Does your roofline need a cuttable strand?
  • How much do you care about white light versus color effects?
  • How harsh is your climate?
  • How long a run do you need?

Permanent Outdoor Lights 2: the budget pick for simple rooflines

Permanent Outdoor Lights 2 (models H705D, H705E and H705F) is Govee's entry-level kit. At $279.99 for 100 feet, and from $179.99 for 50 feet, it costs a fraction of the other three. It uses RGBWIC LEDs with a warm white channel at 4000K but no dedicated cool white. Govee rates it at 40 lumens per light, with IP67 lights and an IP65 control box.

The big limitation is that the strand cannot be cut. You can add a 16.4-foot extension light to the 50- and 100-foot kits. The total must stay at or under 150 feet, with at most nine light sections and four extension cables. It is not compatible with the first-generation Permanent Outdoor Lights (H705A/B/C). Govee says the Permanent Outdoor Lights Elite has identical specifications and functionality.

It installs with VHB adhesive tape and clips, and it supports 100 scene modes, AI-generated light shows, music mode, DreamView, Matter, Alexa and Google Assistant.

Choose it if: you have a straightforward roofline, want holiday colors and warm white accent light, and want to spend as little as possible.

Permanent Outdoor Lights Pro: the value all-rounder

Permanent Outdoor Lights Pro (H706A, H706B and H706C) was listed at $599.99 for 200 feet on November 4, down from a listed regular price of $759.99. It adds what Lights 2 lacks: RGBWWIC LEDs with both warm and cool white (2700K–6500K), 50 lumens per light, and a cuttable, extendable strand.

Its signature look is a triangular lighting effect from an anti-glare lens. The 200-foot kit includes the driver module needed to run past 150 feet, and total length is capped at 200 feet. Weather protection is a notch below the newer models. The lights are IP67, the control box IP65, and the adapter is rated for indoor use, so it needs a sheltered spot. Govee lists the operating range as -4°F to 140°F.

One compatibility note: Govee upgraded the control chip on the black H706C. The new version supports Luminblend+ but cannot be connected to the older H706C or its accessories. If you are extending an existing install, check the version first.

Choose it if: you want good white light for everyday use, a cuttable strand for a more complex roofline, and the lowest price for a 200-foot cuttable kit.

Permanent Outdoor Lights 2 Pro: the design-focused option

Permanent Outdoor Lights 2 Pro (H3A51 at 100 feet, H3A53 at 200 feet) was listed at $639.99 for 200 feet, down from $799.99. Its headline feature is what Govee calls an industry-first dual-layer color effect: each light produces two layered colors. The AI Lighting Bot 2.0 can set the upper and lower layers independently from one prompt.

It has the widest white range in the lineup, from an ultra-warm 1000K to 10000K. Weather protection is strong: IP68 lights and Y-connector, with an IP67 control box and adapter. Installation is the most flexible of the four. You can cut, extend and reconnect the strand, and the light heads snap on and off. The included Y-connector also lets you split one run into two independently controlled branches, useful for L-shaped or multi-level homes.

On brightness, Govee's own materials disagree. The spec table lists 40 lumens per light, while the collection page says up to 55 lumens. Plan around the lower figure if white light output matters.

Choose it if: your home has a complex roofline, you want layered architectural lighting, or you want the strongest weatherproofing short of the Prism at a lower price.

Permanent Outdoor Lights Prism: the flagship

The Prism (H707B at 150 feet, H707C at 200 feet) is listed at $859.99 for 200 feet, with no markdown on November 4. Each of its 72 light heads has three color zones, for 216 ICs in total. It is rated at up to 60 lumens per light, with RGBWWIC color, 2700K–6500K white, IP68 lights, an IP67 control box and a -22°F to 140°F operating range.

It is the most capable system on paper and the most expensive. Independent reviewers have also flagged the wide spacing between its modules. We cover it in depth in our Govee Permanent Outdoor Lights Prism review.

Choose it if: you want the richest color effects and the highest rated brightness, and the price premium doesn't bother you.

Key trade-offs explained

Cuttable or not

Only Lights 2 is non-cuttable. If your roofline has several separate runs, corners or gaps, a cuttable kit avoids leftover strand and dark sections. On a simple rectangle, Lights 2 may be all you need.

White light quality

If the lights will spend most of the year as house lighting rather than holiday décor, white performance matters. Lights 2 has only 4000K warm white. The Pro and Prism cover 2700K–6500K, and the 2 Pro stretches from 1000K to 10000K.

Weather and power

The 2 Pro and Prism use IP68 lights and IP67 control boxes. The Pro and Lights 2 use IP67 lights with IP65 boxes, and the Pro's adapter is indoor-rated. All four must plug into a covered Class A GFCI outlet in a weatherproof enclosure.

Length

Lights 2 tops out at 150 feet per pack. The Pro, 2 Pro and Prism come in 200-foot kits. Govee suggests 50 to 100 feet for tiny homes, bungalows and two-story homes, 100 to 150 feet for larger homes, and 150 to 200 feet or multiple packs for very large houses. Walk your perimeter and measure before you buy.

Before you buy: returns and warranty

All four kits carry a 3-year warranty on their product pages when bought directly from Govee. Govee's 30-day no-reason return only covers products that were not installed, and you pay return shipping. Orders placed between October 1 and December 31, 2026 get until January 31, 2027 to return, still only uninstalled. Retailer purchases from Lowe's, Amazon, Costco and others follow those retailers' policies. Our Govee shopping guide explains the details.

Bottom line

  • For a simple roofline and holiday color on a budget, Permanent Outdoor Lights 2 is the obvious pick.
  • For the best balance of white light, cuttability and price at 200 feet, the Pro leads.
  • For complex homes and layered effects, the 2 Pro adds Y-connector flexibility and IP68 protection.
  • For the most advanced color effects at a premium price, choose the Prism.
