What this guide covers
Buying smart lights straight from Govee's U.S. store looks simple: free shipping, a 30-day money-back promise and a points program. The fine print matters more than usual, though, because many Govee products, permanent outdoor lights especially, get stuck to your house during installation. This guide walks through how ordering, delivery, returns, warranty claims and Govee Rewards work on us.govee.com as of November 4, 2026. It also covers the 2026 holiday return extension and the conditions that can quietly rule out a refund.

Who Govee is and what the official store sells
Govee is a smart lighting company that has sold app-controlled lights since 2017. Its range covers LED strip lights, TV backlights, floor lamps, outdoor string lights and a growing line of permanent outdoor lights for rooflines and eaves. Most products are controlled through the Govee Home app, and many also work with Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant and Matter.
The U.S. storefront at us.govee.com is the official direct channel. Govee products are also sold through Amazon, Lowe's, Walmart, Costco, Best Buy and other retailers, and that matters later: Govee's after-sales policy applies only to products bought directly from Govee's official website or the Govee App Mall. If you buy from a retailer, returns and repairs go through that retailer instead.
If you are shopping for roofline lighting in particular, our comparison of Govee's four permanent outdoor light models and our Govee Prism review cover the products themselves. This article sticks to the buying process.
Shipping: how fast and where Govee delivers
Govee's shipping policy says the store provides free express shipping. Addresses in remote locations may be charged extra at standard market rates. A few details worth knowing:
- Handling time: Orders ship within one business day of purchase.
- Delivery time: The shipping policy says delivery takes around 2 to 7 business days and may take longer during the holiday season. Product pages currently state 2 to 6 business days from Govee's U.S. warehouse.
- Where it ships: The U.S. store only ships to U.S. addresses.
- Carriers and tracking: Tracking numbers appear in your order details and in Govee's shipping emails. The policy links to UPS, USPS and 17TRACK for tracking.
- Prime delivery option: Some product pages list a Prime expedited shipping option of 1 to 3 business days. It requires a verified Prime account whose registered address matches your shipping address.
- Multiple items: Items bought on the same day are usually shipped together where possible. Items bought on different days are less likely to arrive together.
Govee also offers a "Worry-Free Delivery" add-on through a third-party service called Seel on some product pages. That is an optional extra, not part of Govee's own policy, so read its terms separately if you consider it.
The 30-day no-reason return policy
Govee advertises a "30-Day Money Back Guarantee." The actual rule in its after-sales policy is more specific. You can request a no-reason return and full refund within 30 days of purchase if both of these conditions are met:
- The product was not installed and not damaged.
- The original packaging, all accessories, the manual, any gifts and other included items are complete and returned together with the product.
You also pay the return shipping cost to Govee. Refurbished items bought from the website or the Govee App Mall are not eligible for the no-reason return.

That "not installed" condition is the single most important line for anyone buying permanent outdoor lights. These kits are mounted with VHB adhesive tape, clips or screws. Once a strand is stuck to your eaves, it no longer meets the no-reason return condition. If you are unsure about length or color, measure and plan first, and only open and install the kit once you are confident.
The 2026 holiday return extension
For orders placed between October 1, 2026 and December 31, 2026, Govee extends the deadline for the 30-day no-reason return to January 31, 2027. The extension does not apply to gift cards or refurbished items. That makes early holiday gifts lower risk, as long as the recipient doesn't install the product before deciding.
How to start a return
- With an account: Log in and submit the request from your Order page.
- Without an account: Use Govee's official no-account return page at us.govee.com/pages/no-account-return.
- Wait for approval: Do not ship anything until Govee approves the request. Govee says products returned without an approved request will not be refunded.
- Ship within 7 days: Once approved, send the product to the address Govee gives you within seven days. Then upload a valid tracking number on the return page. You carry the risk of loss or damage in transit.
- Refund: Govee processes the refund after it receives the item and confirms it is in good condition. Missing or damaged packaging, accessories or gifts can lead to a refused return or a deduction from the refund.
Damaged or missing parts on arrival
If a package arrives damaged or short of parts, email support@govee.com right away. Include:
- your order number
- a photo of the outer packaging showing the SKU label
- a photo of the packaging showing the shipping label
- photos of the damage or the missing items
Once Govee verifies the claim, it arranges an exchange or a refund. Photograph everything before you throw away any packaging.
Warranty: what Govee covers and what it doesn't
Govee's general after-sales policy lists a 12-month limited warranty for standard products such as LED strips, smart lights, bulbs, thermohygrometers and small appliances. Test products and items redeemed with points get 90 days. The warranty runs from the date of purchase or redemption.
Product pages for Govee's permanent outdoor lights advertise a 3-year warranty, and the permanent lights collection page says the same. If you are buying one of those kits, keep a screenshot of the product page warranty statement with your order confirmation.
The limited warranty does not apply when:
- you can't provide valid proof of purchase
- the warranty has expired, or the item was a free gift
- the product was disassembled, modified or repaired without authorization
- the damage was caused by drops, water damage, extreme environments or improper use
- the issue is normal wear, such as fading, connector aging, or blockages from dirt and dust
- the product was not bought directly from Govee (retailer purchases are handled by the retailer)
To make a claim, contact support@govee.com or use Govee's replacement page. Provide proof of purchase, photos or video of the fault and the serial number. Govee may ask you to troubleshoot or to send the product in for testing. If the claim is approved, it issues a refund or a replacement. A replacement keeps the original warranty end date rather than starting a new one.
Two more rules are easy to miss. The warranty only applies in the country or region where you bought the product. And installation and removal costs are always yours, including fees for a professional installer. If Govee tests a returned product and finds it isn't covered, you pay the round-trip shipping.
Govee Rewards: how the points program works
Govee Rewards is the store's free loyalty program. According to Govee's points guide:
- Purchases: You earn 5 Govee Store Points for every $1 you spend.
- One-time sign-up bonuses: 100 points for your first login, 100 for subscribing to the newsletter, and 50 each for completing your profile and setting preferences.
- First order: 200 points.
- Birthday: 200 points every year.
- Registering an order from another Govee channel: 200 points, once per user.
- Buying a newly released product within three days of launch: 200 points.
Points can be redeemed for discounts, exclusive perks or products. Product pages currently tell members they can save up to $50 with points on eligible items. If you pay with points and the order is refunded or closed, Govee returns the points once the transaction is closed. You can see your point balance and history in the Govee Home app.
Keep the warranty catch in mind: items redeemed entirely with points carry a 90-day warranty instead of the standard period.
Other ways to pay and save
- Installments: Govee's checkout offers installment payment options. The store lists Klarna and Afterpay, alongside PayPal, Apple Pay, Google Pay and major cards.
- Education discount: Govee runs an education discount program for eligible students and educators, linked from every product page.
- Refurbished products: Govee sells refurbished items. They are excluded from the no-reason return and from the 2026 holiday extension.
- Sitewide events: Govee's 9th Anniversary sale was running on November 4, 2026, with a banner advertising up to 45% off. Prices change often, so compare against the product page on the day you buy.
Buying permanent outdoor lights from Govee: a checklist
Permanent lights are the most expensive Govee category and the hardest to return, so a short checklist helps:

- Measure your rooflines first. Walk the perimeter, add up the eave lengths and compare them to kit lengths (50 to 200 feet depending on the model).
- Check cuttability. Permanent Outdoor Lights 2 cannot be cut. The Pro, 2 Pro and Prism can be cut and extended.
- Check the power setup. Govee says the lights must plug into a covered Class A GFCI outlet in a weatherproof enclosure.
- Keep the box intact until you're sure. Installed lights are not eligible for no-reason returns.
- Save proof of purchase and a screenshot of the product page's warranty line.
- Buy direct if you want Govee's own policies. Retailer purchases follow the retailer's return and repair rules.
Bottom line
Govee's direct store offers free, fast U.S. shipping, a points program and, for permanent lights, a 3-year warranty on the product pages. The return policy is stricter than the "money back guarantee" banner suggests. You pay return shipping, and anything installed is excluded. The holiday extension to January 31, 2027 helps gift buyers, but only for uninstalled products. Plan your installation carefully and keep your paperwork, and buying direct is straightforward.
