Apple's 27.2 software updates, released on October 26, 2026, extend Siri AI, the rebuilt and more conversational version of Siri, beyond English. It now works in French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish. There is a significant catch for European readers: Apple says Siri AI is still unavailable in the EU on iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch.

What changed

  • New languages: French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish join English.
  • Software: iOS 27.2, iPadOS 27.2, macOS 27.2, watchOS 27.2 and visionOS 27.2. Siri AI remains labelled a beta.
  • Coming next: Chinese (Traditional), Norwegian, Turkish and Vietnamese by the end of 2026, according to Apple.
  • What Siri AI does: uses personal context from your messages, email and photos, takes actions inside apps (for example drafting an email or editing and sharing photos), understands what is on screen, and answers general-knowledge questions.

Who is affected

  • Owners of Apple Intelligence-capable devices set to one of the six supported languages can use it after updating.
  • EU users: Siri AI is unavailable in the EU in iOS, iPadOS and watchOS. Apple says it is working with the EU on a path forward. The Apple announcement does not list macOS or visionOS in that restriction, so a Mac in the EU may behave differently; check after updating.
  • Under-13s: Siri AI is not available to users under 13.
  • Heavy users: features that rely on Apple's server-side models, including Siri AI, have daily usage limits, and Apple says expanded access will be offered for a fee in the future.

Our take

Adding Spanish, French and Portuguese makes Siri AI relevant to a much larger share of Apple users in the Americas, and Japanese and Korean extend it to users in Japan and South Korea. For readers in Spain, France, Portugal or Germany, though, the practical answer is unchanged: on an iPhone bought and used in the EU, you still cannot turn it on.

The usage limits deserve attention too. Apple is signalling that the most capable AI features will not be unlimited forever, and that a paid tier is coming. If Siri AI is a reason you are considering a new iPhone, iPad or Mac, factor that in.
