What this guide covers
Buying a speaker or soundbar directly from Sonos is a little different from buying it at a big-box store. Sonos.com has its own shipping rules, a 30-day return window with prepaid return labels, a one-year warranty, a Certified Refurbished store, a price match promise and an Upgrade Program that turns older Sonos gear into credit. None of these are hidden, but they are spread across several help pages and the Terms of Sale. This guide pulls them together so you know what to expect before you check out.
Everything below comes from Sonos's own US pages as checked on November 4, 2026. Policies change, so confirm the details on the linked official pages before you rely on them for a large order.

Shipping on Sonos.com
Shipping is free. Sonos states that shipping is "always free" on Sonos.com, and it shows customized shipping options at checkout based on your address.
Cut-off time. In-stock products typically ship the same day for orders placed by 11 AM in your local time. Sonos says most orders in the continental US arrive within four business days or less when placed before that cut-off.
Weekdays only. Orders are delivered Monday through Friday. There is no Saturday, Sunday or holiday shipping or delivery, which matters if you are ordering a gift late in the week.
Where it ships. Orders can go to the continental US, Alaska, Hawaii and Puerto Rico. Sonos cannot deliver to freight forwarders, PO boxes, APO/FPO addresses, hotels, US territories other than Puerto Rico, or international addresses from the US store.
Billing details. Incomplete or incorrect billing information can add a 24-hour processing delay, and an order whose shipping address differs from the billing address may be held for verification.
Signatures. Sonos does not require a signature when it ships with UPS, but the carrier can still decide to require one. You are responsible for being available at the delivery address.
Changing the address. You cannot simply edit the address. You have to cancel the order and place a new one, and Sonos warns that orders reach its warehouse in under an hour, after which cancelling may not be possible. The sales line is 1-800-680-2345, 10 AM to 7 PM Eastern, Monday to Friday.
Tracking details are emailed when the order ships, and the Order Status page on sonos.com lets you look up an order with its number.
Buy online, pick up at Best Buy
For eligible items, Sonos.com offers a Pickup option at checkout at select Best Buy stores. The process works like this:
- Choose Pickup, pick a Best Buy store and note the estimated pickup date.
- Enter the name, email and phone number of the person who will collect the order.
- Wait for the separate "Ready for pickup" email.
- Bring a government-issued photo ID that matches the pickup person, plus that email.
The store holds the order for five days. If nobody collects it, the order is cancelled and refunded to the original payment method. Only you or the person you named can pick it up, and changing the store means cancelling and reordering. A pickup order bought on sonos.com can be returned at any Best Buy store in the US or through the normal Sonos return process.
The 30-day return policy
Sonos's Terms of Sale say that if you are unsatisfied "for any reason," you can let Sonos know within 30 days and it will refund the full purchase price and cover return shipping. The 30 days start when you (or someone you named) take physical possession of the product.
The conditions are specific:
- Start the return within 30 days of delivery, through the Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) form linked from the Start a Return page.
- Return the product in its original Sonos packaging, with all materials, in new or as-new condition. Keep the box for at least a month.
- Use the prepaid label Sonos emails with the RMA number. Returns sent with another carrier or label cannot be processed, and old labels on the box should be removed or covered.
- Sonos must receive the item within 14 calendar days of the RMA being issued, and the serial number must match the RMA.
Speaker sets. Sets can be returned in full or in part. For partial returns, the refund value is priced by set, so it may not equal the stand-alone price of the item you send back. Sonos asks you to call 800-680-2345 for set returns.
Limited editions. Returns and replacements are accepted, but a replacement depends on availability and may be another Sonos product "of like kind and quality."
Promotional discounts. If an order used a promotional discount, that discount is not returned to you when some or all items come back.
Warranty: one year, transferable
Sonos offers a one-year warranty on all products sold. It covers defects in materials and workmanship for one year from the date of shipment from Sonos, or from the original retail purchase date at an Authorized Sonos Dealer. Valid claims are repaired or replaced free of cost.
Points worth knowing:
- The warranty is transferable with ownership, so it follows the speaker if you sell or give it away within the period.
- A repair or replacement does not extend the warranty period.
- Exclusions include accidents, abuse or misuse, use outside Sonos instructions, missing or altered serial numbers, opened or tampered housings, and problems caused by third-party accessories or parts.
Local consumer protection law may give you additional rights; Sonos notes that its warranty does not restrict them.
Extend product protection
At checkout, eligible products can be paired with protection plans from Extend. According to Sonos's Product Protection page, Extend coverage continues after the manufacturer warranty ends for mechanical or electrical failures, and portable products are also covered for accidental damage such as drops, breaks and spills from day one. Sonos lists a $0 deductible and claims filed online or by phone.
If you return the product, Sonos says it refunds both the speaker and the Extend plan; depending on how much time has passed, the plan refund may be prorated, less any paid claims. Read Extend's own terms before buying, because limitations and exclusions apply.

Certified Refurbished: same warranty, lower price
The Certified Refurbished store sells returned and reconditioned products that Sonos says are "backed by the same warranty as brand new products," and every unit undergoes testing to meet Sonos standards. Sonos also donates a portion of refurbished sales through its 1% for the Planet membership.
Prices listed on November 4, 2026, compared with the current new prices on sonos.com:
| Product | Refurbished | New |
|---|---|---|
| Era 100 | $179 | $219 |
| Roam 2 | $149 | $179 |
| Sonos Ace | $279 | $349 |
| Sub 4 | $719 | $899 |
| Arc Ultra | $879 | $1,099 |
The refurbished range also included Arc, Arc SL, Beam (Gen 2), Ray, Sub (Gen 3), Sub Mini, Era 300, Five and Move 2 that day. Stock rotates, so a given model may not always be listed.
Price match promise
Sonos promises to match a lower advertised price in two cases, both within 30 days of your purchase:
- A Price-matched Sonos Reseller advertises the same product for less. In the US, that list is Best Buy US, ABT, Nebraska Furniture Mart, Amazon (only when Amazon itself is the seller) and PC Richards.
- Sonos itself lowers the price on sonos.com.
The product must be the exact same SKU, new, in original packaging and in stock at the reseller. Sonos does not match single products against bundles or sets, and it excludes refurbished, open-box, clearance and previously returned items, as well as prices caused by advertising errors. You need genuine proof of the lower price, such as a screenshot, and the difference goes back to your original payment method. Contact Sonos Support to start a claim.
The Sonos Upgrade Program
The help and offers links on Sonos.com list no points-style rewards scheme. The closest thing is the Upgrade Program, which gives existing owners credit toward new gear. Sonos says it offers savings of up to 30% on a new speaker, soundbar, component or set.
How it works, per Sonos:
- Sign in and open the Upgrade page in your Sonos account.
- Select qualifying products in your system and activate the credit.
- Apply the credit at checkout.
Each eligible product earns credit toward one item in your cart. The examples listed on November 4, 2026 included Roam (2021), Roam SL (2022), Sub (Gen 1, Gen 2 and Gen 3) and Move (2019), each worth a 15% upgrade credit. Two details stand out: activated credit "never expires," and nothing happens to the eligible product, so you can keep using it in your system. Your own account page shows which of your products qualify and at what level.

Other ways Sonos lowers the price
- Frontline Workers program. First responders and healthcare workers can take 15% off select Sonos products and accessories after verifying through ID.me. It is single-use, cannot be combined with other offers and excludes limited edition, last chance and Certified Refurbished products.
- Student discount. Sonos links a student discount through Student Beans in its site footer; eligibility is set on that page.
- Sets. Sonos bundles such as the Immersive Set with Beam Ultra (Beam Ultra, Sub Mini and two Era 100s) were listed at $1,556 versus $1,636 bought separately on November 4. The Terms of Sale say other promotional discounts cannot be applied to speaker sets.
Payment options on sonos.com are Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover and PayPal, according to the Terms of Sale.
Quick checklist before you order
- Order before 11 AM local time on a weekday if you want same-day dispatch.
- Keep the original box for at least 30 days.
- Check the Certified Refurbished store first; the warranty is the same.
- Look at your account's Upgrade page if you already own Sonos gear.
- Screenshot any lower reseller price within 30 days of purchase for a price match.
