Our verdict

On paper, It's a 10 Miracle Leave-In is a lightweight, fragranced conditioning spray whose formula best supports its detangling, softening and shine claims, while its heat, UV and protein claims are not quantified by the brand.

It's a 10 Miracle Leave-In is the spray that made the brand. In its November 2, 2026 rebrand announcement, It's a 10 said it sells more than 11 million bottles a year in the United States, about one every three seconds. It also calls the product the "#1 leave-in for two decades," which is the brand's own claim. The product is now arriving in new navy-and-magenta packaging, so many shoppers are looking at it again.

This is a research-based review. We did not test the spray on our own hair. Instead, we read the brand's product page, full ingredient list, directions and published review data, along with its policies, to judge what the product is likely to do well, where its claims go beyond the evidence, and who should think twice.

What it is

The Miracle Leave-In is a spray-on, no-rinse conditioner. It's a 10 describes it as an "easy-to-use spray" that "smooths hair, helps eliminate frizz, restores shine, and enhances your hair's natural body," and says it is suitable for all hair types.

Detail What It's a 10 lists
Format Leave-in conditioning spray
Sizes and prices 2 oz $14.00, 4 oz $22.00, 10 oz $42.00
Directions Spray evenly from mid-shaft to ends on towel-dried hair, do not rinse, comb through and style
Hair type All hair types (brand claim)
Variants Lite, Plus Keratin, Potion, Coily, Blondes, Clear, Fragrance Free and others

Prices are from itsa10haircare.com on November 2, 2026. At those prices, the 10 oz bottle works out to $4.20 per ounce, the 4 oz to $5.50 and the 2 oz to $7.00, so the large bottle is clearly the best value per ounce once you know you like the product.

The "10 benefits," and how much each one is backed up

The product's name comes from the 10 benefits on its page:

  1. Nourishes hair
  2. Thermal protector
  3. Detangles
  4. Helps protect hair color
  5. Restores shine
  6. Helps reduce frizz
  7. Natural UV protection
  8. Helps replace lost proteins
  9. Enhances hair's natural body
  10. Helps prevent split ends

It's a 10 graphic listing the Miracle Leave-In benefits

These claims are worded loosely ("helps," "nourishes"), and none come with a test method or number on the product page. Looking at the formula helps sort them:

  • Detangling, softness, shine and frizz. These fit the formula best. The ingredient list starts with water, propylene glycol, cetearyl alcohol and behentrimonium chloride. Behentrimonium chloride is a cationic conditioning agent widely used in conditioners because it clings to hair and reduces friction, and cetearyl alcohol is a fatty alcohol that adds slip. A spray built on these is a classic detangler.
  • "Helps replace lost proteins." The formula contains silk amino acids, which the brand says help restore moisture balance and add strength and shine. They sit near the end of the ingredient list, after the fragrance. That suggests a small amount, which is normal for actives but worth knowing if protein is what you want. The Plus Keratin version is the brand's protein-focused option.
  • Thermal protection. The page calls it a thermal protector but gives no temperature rating. Treat it as a light conditioning layer before heat styling, not as a substitute for a heat protectant that publishes a rating.
  • "Natural UV protection." The page gives no SPF-style measure for hair. Green tea leaf extract, which the brand describes as antioxidant protection against environmental damage, is presumably the "natural" part. We would not count on it for strong sun.
  • Color protection and split ends. A conditioner that reduces friction can mean less breakage while combing, which is a plausible route to both claims. The brand gives no data for either.

The ingredient list in plain English

The headline ingredients the brand highlights are:

  • Sunflower seed extract: "a super light extract that helps soften and add shine"
  • Green tea leaf extract: antioxidant protection against environmental damage
  • Silk amino acids: moisture balance, strength and shine
  • Aloe vera: soothing, protective moisture
  • Panthenol: described as a moisturizer, fortifier and antioxidant

It's a 10 ingredient graphic with silk amino acids and panthenol labels

The full list, as published on the product page, is:

Water (Aqua, Eau), Propylene Glycol, Cetearyl Alcohol, Behentrimonium Chloride, Diheptyl Succinate, Phenoxyethanol, Quaternium-80, Fragrance (Parfum), Panthenol, Glycerin, Tetrasodium Glutamate Diacetate, Capryloyl Glycerin/Sebacic Acid Copolymer, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Sodium Hydroxide, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Extract, Silk Amino Acids, Citric Acid, Citronellol, Citrus Aurantium Peel Oil, Dimethyl Phenethyl Acetate, Hexamethylindanopyran, Hexyl Cinnamal, Isoeugenyl Acetate, Limonene, Linalool.

A few observations:

  • It is fragranced, and the fragrance components are listed. Citronellol, hexyl cinnamal, limonene and linalool are fragrance ingredients commonly listed as potential allergens in cosmetics labeling. If your scalp or skin reacts to fragrance, look at the Fragrance Free Miracle Leave-In (4 oz, $22.00) instead.
  • Quaternium-80 is a silicone-based conditioning ingredient. People who avoid silicones should note it, although it is not one of the common "-cone" names. Diheptyl succinate and capryloyl glycerin/sebacic acid copolymer are often used as plant-derived alternatives to silicone for slip and shine.
  • There are no oils or butters high on the list. That matches the "lightweight" positioning and explains why the brand sells a separate Coily version with avocado oil, coconut oil and shea butter for hair that needs more.
  • The brand notes that ingredient lists "may change or vary from time to time" and points to the packaging as the final reference. That matters during the 2026 packaging change.

What the customer ratings say

The product page shows a 4.9 out of 5 average from 1,679 reviews, with 1,572 five-star and 10 one-star ratings. It also says 98% of reviewers would recommend the product to a friend. These are reviews on the brand's own site, which tend to be more positive than reviews collected elsewhere, so treat them as a sign that many buyers are happy, not as proof.

The few negative reviews are still useful. One one-star reviewer said it made their hair feel hard and took several washes to remove. That is a common complaint about leave-ins on hair that does not need much conditioning, or when too much product is used, and it fits the directions to spray only mid-shaft to ends.

Who it suits, and who should look at another version

Likely a good fit:

  • Medium to thick hair that tangles easily after washing
  • Anyone who wants a quick detangling and smoothing step before blow-drying
  • Color-treated hair that needs extra slip for gentler combing

Consider another It's a 10 version:

  • Fine or limp hair: the brand makes Miracle Leave-In Lite for fine or short hair, with marshmallow root for "lift" and "zero build-up."
  • Very dry or damaged hair: Plus Keratin adds keratin amino acids and hydrolyzed keratin. The brand warns that fragile or highly bleached hair can break with overuse of keratin products.
  • Coily or tightly curled hair: Coily Miracle Leave-In has a richer oil-and-butter blend.
  • Fragrance-sensitive: the Fragrance Free version.

Our comparison of the Miracle Leave-In versions covers each one in more detail.

Things to know before you buy

  • It's a final sale on the brand's site. It's a 10's refund policy says products cannot be returned or exchanged because they are personal care items. Only damaged, defective or wrong items reported within 48 hours qualify. Starting with the 2 oz bottle ($14.00) is the low-risk way to try it.
  • Free shipping starts at $35 on itsa10haircare.com, with a $5.00 fee below that.
  • Packaging is changing. The refreshed look launched exclusively at Ulta Beauty and Ulta.com on November 2, 2026, and product pages note "packaging may vary." The formula name is what to match.

Verdict

On paper, the Miracle Leave-In is a straightforward, lightweight conditioning spray. Its formula is built on behentrimonium chloride and fatty alcohol for slip, with small amounts of silk amino acids, panthenol, aloe and botanical extracts. Detangling, softness, shine and frizz control are the most credible of its 10 benefits. Thermal, UV and protein-replacement claims are not quantified on the brand's page. It is fragranced, and returns are not accepted on the brand's site, so fragrance-sensitive shoppers and anyone unsure should start with the Fragrance Free version or the 2 oz size.
