Once Upon a Farm has recalled every lot and every variety of its Tractor Wheels Organic Toddler Soft-Baked Bars because of a potential choking hazard for toddlers. The company announced the recall on October 30, 2026, and the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) published the notice on November 2. Because the recall covers all lots, including expired product, the check is simpler than most recalls. If you have any Tractor Wheels at home, they are included. This guide explains how to identify the recalled packs, what to do with them and how to get your money back, based on the FDA notice and Once Upon a Farm's own recall page.

Why the bars were recalled

According to the company announcement posted by the FDA, the composition of the Tractor Wheels bars can rapidly hydrate into a dense, dry and sticky mass on contact with saliva and during chewing. That can create a potential choking hazard for toddlers aged 1.5 to 2.5 years.

The FDA notice says the decision followed three consumer complaints of choking reported to the FDA. No injuries had been reported as of the announcement. The company says it is working with the FDA to remove the product and is reformulating the bars.

Is my pack included?

Yes, if it says Tractor Wheels. The FDA notice covers all lot codes currently in distribution, including expired products that may still be on shelves at home. The unexpired Best If Used By dates in the recall run from October 30, 2026, to August 26, 2027. Once Upon a Farm's FAQ is explicit: every lot is included, so there is no code to check.

The bars were distributed nationwide, including Puerto Rico. They were sold both online and in retail stores.

Why "all lots" makes this recall different

Many food recalls are limited to specific lot codes or production dates, so parents have to match tiny printed codes against a list. This one is not. The concern is the bar's composition, meaning how it behaves when a toddler chews it, rather than a contamination problem at one plant on one day. That is why every lot, flavor and pack size is included. It also means a pack bought months ago, or one past its date, is just as affected as a new one. You do not need to compare codes. The table below helps you recognize the product, including in mixed sampler boxes.

How to recognize the packaging

The recalled boxes, shown in the FDA's product photos, have these features:

  • Branding. The Once Upon a Farm logo, the name "Tractor Wheels" and the line "Organic Toddler Soft-Baked Bar".
  • Front art. A blue cartoon tractor whose wheel is the round bar itself.
  • Color bands by flavor. Orange for Banana, Pumpkin & Cauliflower; green for Apple, Sweet Potato & Spinach; red for Strawberry, Pumpkin & Beet.
  • Labels. "No Added Sugar" across the top, with "5 Pack" on the smaller boxes.
  • Individual wrappers. The same tractor artwork in red, orange or green.
  • Larger packs. The 20-count box is labeled "Organic Soft-Baked Bar" with two flavor lines. The 30-count variety pack comes in a brown case.

Loose bars count too. If a single wrapper has migrated to a diaper bag, a car door pocket or a daycare cubby, it is part of the recall.

What to do right now

  1. Stop serving the bars. The FDA notice says consumers should not open the package or eat the product.
  2. Gather every pack. Check the pantry, bags, cars, grandparents' houses and daycare supplies.
  3. Choose return or disposal.
    • The FDA notice says to return the product to the place of purchase for a full refund, or to contact the company.
    • Once Upon a Farm's own recall page also says you may discard the product. It adds that you can return it to the retailer, or claim a refund with proof of purchase if you have already thrown it away.
  4. Tell caregivers. Make sure daycare staff, babysitters and relatives know about the recall.

How to get a refund

There are two routes:

  • Bought in a store or from an online retailer: return the product to that retailer for a full refund.
  • Bought from Once Upon a Farm's website, or you have questions: email care@uponafarm.com or call 1-888-983-1606.

According to the FDA notice, the phone line is open Monday to Friday, 6:00 am to 4:30 pm PST, and Saturday, 8:00 am to 11:00 am PST.

Once Upon a Farm's FAQ says it aims to reply within 5 business days and asks for patience given demand. It also says refunds can take up to 5 business days, and that customer care will email a confirmation once the refund is issued. Keep your order number or receipt handy. A photo of the box or wrapper can help if you no longer have the receipt.

If you have a subscription or recurring order on the brand's site that included Tractor Wheels or a sampler pack, contact customer care about upcoming shipments. Also check your account before the next charge date.

If your child had a problem

If your child is choking and cannot breathe, cough or cry, call 911 immediately. If your child had a choking episode or other problems after eating the bars, talk to your pediatrician. You can also report the problem to the FDA through its MedWatch or Safety Reporting Portal. Reports help regulators track whether a recall is reaching families.
