ALP is a US nicotine pouch brand from ALP Supply Co. LLC (Miami), a joint venture of Turning Point Brands and the Tucker Carlson Network, selling nicotine pouch...
21+ only. WARNING: This product contains nicotine. Nicotine is an addictive chemical. This comparison is for adults who already use nicotine. If you don't use nicotine, don't start. Nothing here is health advice, and nicotine pouches are not a quit-smoking aid.
ZYN is the best-known nicotine pouch brand in the US. ALP launched in late 2024 and set itself up as a direct challenger. Forbes covered the launch as an attempt to take on ZYN, and ALP's own launch release took shots at its rival by name. If you already use pouches and are weighing the two, the differences come down to regulation, format, strengths, flavors, where you can buy them and how each loyalty program works. This comparison sticks to what each company and the FDA publish, plus a few retailer listings, as of November 2, 2026. It's research-based, not a taste test.

Regulation: the biggest difference
On January 16, 2025, the FDA authorized marketing of 20 ZYN nicotine pouch products: ten flavors (Chill, Cinnamon, Citrus, Coffee, Cool Mint, Menthol, Peppermint, Smooth, Spearmint and Wintergreen), each in 3mg and 6mg. They were the first nicotine pouches ever authorized. On August 21, 2026, the agency added a set of ZYN ULTRA products in 9mg, plus one 11mg. The FDA's public list of authorized pouches now has 67 products from ZYN, on! and Velo. The agency describes them as "the only nicotine pouch products that may be lawfully sold in the United States."
No ALP product is on that list. PouchRated, an independent review site, reports that ALP's application is under review in the FDA's nicotine pouch pilot program. ALP is sold openly while that review continues.
Two cautions apply to both brands. First, the FDA stresses that authorization doesn't mean a product is safe or "FDA approved." Second, authorization doesn't permit reduced-risk claims. If a marketing order matters to you, ZYN's authorized products have one and ALP doesn't yet.
Format and pouch count
ALP's main selling point is moisture. Its FAQ describes the core pouches as "perfectly moist" and contrasts them with "dry, flavorless alternatives." Its Drifters line is semi-moist. Every ALP tin holds 20 pouches.
ZYN's FAQ says a classic can holds 15 pouches and a ZYN Ultra can holds 20. Nicokick and Northerner, the two retailers ZYN recommends, now also list 20-count cans of classic ZYN in 1.5mg to 6mg. Some 15-count cans are still around, and 8mg stays at 15. ZYN Ultra is described as a "hydro-boosted" pouch with "a hint of moisture," and its can has a built-in compartment for used pouches.
Since can sizes differ, compare price per pouch, not price per can.
Strengths
ALP covers a wider range of strengths. Its core line comes in 3mg, 6mg, 9mg and 12mg. Drifters is 6mg and 12mg, and Frontier is 4mg and 8mg.
ZYN's FAQ lists classic ZYN in 3mg and 6mg, and ZYN Ultra in 9mg and 11mg. Retailers also list some ZYN flavors in 1.5mg and 8mg.
At the low end, ZYN's 1.5mg retail option is the lightest of the two brands, and ALP starts at 3mg. At the top end, ALP's 12mg is higher than ZYN Ultra's 11mg. If you already use one brand, switch to the closest strength, not a higher one. Our guide to choosing an ALP strength and flavor line maps this out.
Flavors
ZYN's FAQ lists ten classic varieties: Chill, Cinnamon, Citrus, Coffee, Cool Mint, Menthol, Peppermint, Smooth, Spearmint and Wintergreen. Black Cherry, Peach and Dragonberry have since become permanent additions. ZYN Ultra has eight: Citrus Zest, Wintergreen Blast, Peppermint Frost, Arctic Mint, Fresh Spearmint, Menthol Ice, Signature Smooth and Chill Mist.
ALP has seven core flavors, five Drifters, three Frontier and a seasonal Peppermint. PouchRated counted 15 ALP flavors before Peppermint returned, the most of any brand it tracks. ALP leans more toward fruit and blends, like Island Peach and Blueberry Lemonade Ice, and it also has coffee and cinnamon in its Frontier line. ZYN's lineup leans more toward mint and menthol.
Where you live matters too. ALP can ship only Classic to California, Massachusetts and Washington, D.C., and some flavored products are blocked in places like New York City. Local flavor rules affect retailers selling ZYN as well.

Price
ALP (official site): a core 5-tin pack is $26.45, or about $5.29 per 20-pouch tin and about 26 cents a pouch. A 20-tin pack is $99.96, about $5.00 a tin, and a 50-tin pack is $238.00, about $4.76 a tin. Subscriptions take 5% to 15% off.
ZYN (retailers): ZYN.com doesn't sell directly. At Northerner, ZYN Ultra costs $4.99 a can for one to five cans, falling to $4.49 a can at 50 cans. For a 20-pouch can, that's about 22 to 25 cents a pouch. Prices for classic ZYN depend on the retailer, can size and local taxes, so check the price per pouch at checkout.
Per pouch, ZYN Ultra bought online is slightly cheaper than ALP's core range at list price. PouchRated also notes that ALP sold for $5.29 a can at Nicokick, one of ALP's retail partners.
Where to buy
ALP sells direct at alppouch.com after an age check through AgeChecker.net. Economy shipping is free on orders over $80, and there are UPS options. Instant Delivery is available in some zones. ALP is also stocked in shops; its Stockist-powered store locator lists them. All sales are final on alppouch.com. See our ALP shopping guide for the full policies.
ZYN is no longer sold on ZYN.com. ZYN says its online store has "suspended its operations" and points buyers to Nicokick and Northerner or to local stores. ZYN also warns about counterfeit cans and advises buying only through legitimate retailers.
Loyalty programs
ALP Rewards is based on spending. You earn 10 to 25 points per dollar depending on your tier, and tiers kick in at $1,000, $2,000 and $3,000 a year. Every 200 points is worth $1 off, or you can trade points for gear. Points expire after 12 months.
ZYN Rewards is based on scanning. You scan the QR code or type in the code on each can, up to 60 codes a month, and redeem points for items on ZYN.com with free shipping. ZYN's FAQ says points expire if you go 60 days without entering an eligible code.
ALP's program gives cash-off codes you can use on your next order. ZYN's gives merchandise, gift cards and experiences, including an invite-only Club 3|6 tier.
Which suits whom
- Choose ZYN if you want an FDA-authorized product, the widest retail availability, a 1.5mg option or a mint-focused lineup.
- Choose ALP if you want a moist 20-pouch tin, more flavor variety (including fruit, coffee and cinnamon lines), a 12mg core option, and the convenience of ordering direct with subscription discounts, and you're comfortable that ALP doesn't have an FDA marketing order yet.
Whichever you pick, start with a small quantity and the strength closest to what you use now. For a closer look at ALP, read our research-based ALP review or the ALP Pouch FAQ.
